Buddy

Meet Buddy! Buddy the chicken was rescued from a backyard breeder, where his fate was grim. Thankfully, a good samaritan coordinated his rescue and transported Buddy to Yesahcan Sanctuary.

Buddy is named in memory of a dearly beloved companion, Buddy the dog. Buddy was Alan’s steady companion for so many years. He moved through life beside him. What made Buddy so special was his empathy. He could see you. He could feel you. He had a rare ability to understand people deeply, and to be present with them in a way that made them feel.

Buddy was with Alan and people he cared about through so many experiences, a witness to his life, a source of comfort, joy, and love. Naming an animal at the sanctuary after him is a way to keep that spirit alive: gentle, loyal, deeply feeling, and full of heart – and lover of all balls :).

May Buddy carry forward the memory of a dog who loved deeply and was deeply loved
